A little about Me

Hello! Delighted to have you here.
I’m Carol! And I’m Really Glad You’re Here.
If you’re a first-time mom feeling lost, overwhelmed, or just silently carrying the emotional weight of motherhood, you’ve found a safe space.
I created IslanderMomLife to share honest stories from my own journey, along with simple, gentle self-care that supports mental health, emotional healing, and personal growth.
I talk about the hard parts of motherhood: the overwhelm, the identity shifts, and the silent struggles so many moms carry alone. But I also believe in gentle action—small, intentional steps that help you feel safe enough to heal, grow, and rediscover who you are.
Because when you take care of yourself, you’re not being selfish.
You’re creating emotional safety.
And from that safety, growth becomes possible.
If you’re here feeling tired, unsure, or disconnected from yourself, know this:
You’re not broken, Mama. You’re becoming. And you’re in the right place.
Who Am I?
Before motherhood, I spent years building a career and following my passions. I worked in the corporate world for almost a decade before following my love for cooking, attending culinary school, and starting a small food business.
Life felt full of possibilities—until becoming a mom changed everything.
After my first daughter was born, I struggled quietly with postpartum depression and anxiety. I went through my days on autopilot, trying to hold everything together while slowly losing myself.
We moved to a remote island months before the pandemic. When lockdowns began, the physical and emotional isolation became even heavier. By the time my second child arrived, I was still carrying unresolved emotional weight.
I felt deeply lost—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I reacted in ways that didn’t help me, stuck in a constant fight-or-flight mode. And yet, like so many moms, I kept it all to myself. I stayed silent, until one day, I couldn’t anymore. I reached a breaking point.
I didn’t need fixing. I needed support. I needed to feel safe again. That’s when my self-care journey began. Not the glamorous kind, but the slow, imperfect, soul-searching kind.
Through gentle self-care, I began supporting my mental health. As my mental health softened, I created emotional safety within myself. From that safety, I moved from simply getting through the days to living with more presence and intention, slowly finding my way back to who I was becoming.
It wasn’t easy, and the process is still ongoing. I’m still finding my way… still learning, still growing.
Motherhood teaches me something new every day, and while I don’t have it all figured out, I share my journey so no mom has to feel as alone as I once did.
