I recently listened to a podcast featuring Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, a leading voice in anti-obesity medicine and author of Forever Strong.
During her conversation with Steven Bartlett on the Diary of a CEO, one of her points hit me hard.
She spoke about why so many people, despite knowing what’s good for them, fail to take action to improve their health.
Her answer? Worthiness.
It’s not a lack of knowledge, it’s that deep down, people don’t feel worthy of health and wellness. And when you don’t feel worthy, you sabotage yourself.
You stay stuck.
This had me thinking… how many of us have felt like this?
We know what we should be doing—eating better, moving more, taking care of our bodies—but we don’t. Why? Is it because we don’t feel worthy of living our best lives?
So I want to ask you, honestly:
Do you feel worthy of health and wellness? Are you sabotaging the one life you’ve been given?
The Simple Gifts of Life
Take a moment to reflect on your life and how you’re living.
Do you think you deserve to be healthy? Do you think you deserve to enjoy the simple, beautiful moments that life offers?
The beauty of waking up each morning, being able to move freely, stepping outside, feeling the sun on your skin, and breathing in the fresh air.
Hearing the birds sing, seeing the vibrant colors of nature, and feeling the earth beneath your feet.
The taste of your favorite meal, the warmth of a cup of coffee in the morning, or the peace that comes from a quiet moment alone.
These are the small, yet precious moments of life. Do you believe you’re worthy of enjoying them fully?
The Comfort of Loved Ones
Do you believe you’re worthy of happiness? Worthy of love and the joy that comes from family, friends, and meaningful connections?
Picture yourself with your children, surrounded by the people who matter most—sharing laughter, enjoying each other’s company, and creating memories together.
The comfort of knowing you are loved, the joy of having your precious kids, or even the simple pleasure of spending time with those you care about.
Whether it’s reading your favorite book, watching a show with a loved one, or enjoying a hobby that lights up your soul, these moments are worth cherishing.
Do you feel you deserve this happiness, this love, and the warmth that comes from the people in your life?
Living with Purpose
And beyond the simple joys, do you believe you’re worthy of living with purpose? Do you think you are worthy of pursuing your dreams and ambitions? Of using your unique talents and skills to make a difference in the world?
Whether it’s creating something beautiful, helping someone in need, or striving toward the goals that set your soul on fire—do you believe you deserve to live a life filled with purpose, passion, and fulfillment?
We often take these moments for granted, or worse, we don’t allow ourselves to fully experience them because we’re too caught up in the noise of daily life. You might be thinking, “I don’t have time,” or “I’m too tired at the end of the day.”
These thoughts are real, and you’re not alone in feeling them.
But here’s the thing, these moments are meant to be YOURS.
You are worthy of feeling alive, healthy, and well. You are worthy of the small joys, the deep happiness, and the peace that comes with taking care of yourself.
Why Ignoring Self-Care Can Have Serious Health Consequences
Did you know that neglecting self-care doesn’t just affect your mood—it can have serious consequences on your long-term health?
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are responsible for 70% of all deaths in the U.S., and many of these are preventable through lifestyle changes.
Prioritizing your health through daily movement, proper nutrition, and stress management can not only help you feel better but also extend your life.
Research has shown that regular physical activity can reduce your risk of heart disease by up to 50%, and even 30 minutes of moderate activity per day can significantly lower your risk of depression and anxiety.
The Hard Truth
We see it every day: people who are seemingly healthy, vibrant, and full of life, are suddenly struck down by illness. It feels unfair, doesn’t it?
I’ve seen it with my own eyes—families and friends who have fought hard and, sadly, lost their battles too soon. And I’ve watched loved ones still in the fight, their strength and courage a constant reminder of just how precious life truly is.
And it shakes you to your core, doesn’t it? It makes you wonder—am I doing enough to protect this precious gift of life I’ve been given? Am I truly living in a way that honors my worth?
It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle, the stress, the grind—but at the end of the day, what truly matters is how we live.
You are here, right now, alive. That’s a gift.
Are you making the most of this life? Are you nourishing your body, mind, and soul? Are you taking care of yourself in a way that reflects your true worth?
Because whether you believe it or not, you are worthy of health, wellness, and happiness.
You are worthy of feeling good in your own skin, of waking up each morning with energy and purpose, of thriving instead of just surviving.
Take Action: Start Living Like You’re Worthy
So here’s my challenge to you: Start treating yourself like you’re worthy of the gift of life.
Right now, not tomorrow, not next week—today. Take one step toward taking better care of yourself.
What does taking care of yourself look like? It can be as simple as:
- Moving your body: Take a brisk walk, stretch, or try yoga. Even 10-15 minutes a day can have a huge impact on your physical and mental health.
- Eating mindfully: Choose nourishing foods that give you energy and make you feel good. Take time to enjoy your meals, without distractions.
- Practicing mindfulness: Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breath, meditating, or just sitting quietly. This can help reduce stress and bring more calm into your day.
- Rest and recovery: Prioritize sleep and rest. Listen to your body when it’s asking for a break, and don’t feel guilty about taking time to recharge.
You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight, but you can start small and build from there.
Honor the life you’ve been given by taking care of it.
A Life Well Lived
We all know that one day, we all die at some point. That’s a fact we cannot change.
But what we can change is how we live between now and then. Don’t let another day pass by without recognizing your own worth.
You have one life. Make it count. Make the choice today to prioritize your health, your wellness, and your joy.
Because when you take care of yourself, you can take care of everything else in your life with more strength, clarity, and love.
So, my question for you is this: Will you start living like you are worthy of health and wellness, worthy of the gift of life? Will you finally give yourself the care and attention you deserve?
Say YES—because you are worthy.
You are worthy of every good thing this life has to offer, and it’s up to you to claim it.
Take action now and prove to yourself that you deserve to feel well, to be well.
Because YOU do.
