A little about Me

Hello! Delighted to have you here.
I’m Carol! And I’m Really Glad You’re Here.
If you’re an ambitious mom who feels lost, overwhelmed, or silently carrying the emotional weight of motherhood, you’ve found a safe space.
I created IslanderMomLife because I believe real self-care is more than rest or escape. For mothers, real self-care means supporting your mental health, creating emotional safety, honoring your needs, and caring for yourself holistically—mind, body, and spirit. When you feel safe, supported, and cared for, healing becomes possible.
And through healing, you can begin to reconnect with yourself, rebuild your confidence, and rediscover the dreams that may have felt lost in motherhood.
I don’t share a journey of perfection or quick fixes. I talk honestly about the realities of motherhood—the overwhelm, the identity shifts, the burnout, and the silent struggles so many moms carry alone. But I also share how small, intentional acts of self-care can help you move from survival to self-connection.
This journey is about becoming more than just mom, not by leaving motherhood behind, but by remembering yourself within it.
Because taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s how you become the mother your children need, and the woman you are still becoming.
Who Am I?
Before motherhood, I spent nearly a decade building a career and pursuing my passions. I worked in the corporate world before following my love for cooking, attending culinary school, and starting a small food business.
Life felt full of possibilities, until motherhood changed everything.
After my first daughter was born, I quietly struggled with postpartum depression, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and identity loss. I went through my days on autopilot, trying to hold everything together while slowly losing touch with myself.
Months before the pandemic, our family moved to a remote island. When lockdowns began, the isolation became even heavier. By the time my second child arrived, I was still carrying years of unresolved emotional weight.
I felt lost mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and stuck in survival mode, and I reacted in ways that didn’t help me.
Like many mothers, I kept it all to myself. Until one day, I couldn’t anymore.
I didn’t need fixing. I needed support. I needed to feel safe again.
That’s when my self-care journey began.
Not the glamorous kind, but the slow, imperfect, soul-searching kind.
Through holistic self-care, I began supporting my mental health. As my mental health improved, I started creating emotional safety within myself. From that safety came healing, and through healing, I slowly began rebuilding my confidence, reconnecting with myself, and finding my way back to the dreams and ambitions that motherhood had buried beneath the overwhelm.
The journey wasn’t easy, and it’s still ongoing. I’m still learning, still growing, still becoming.
That’s why I share my story, not because I have everything figured out, but because I know how lonely motherhood can feel when you’re struggling in silence. No mom has to feel as alone as I once did.

I created IslanderMomLife because it’s the space I desperately needed when I first became a mom.
A place that reminded me I wasn’t broken, that my needs mattered too, and that motherhood is part of my identity, not my entire identity.

Why should you follow IslanderMomLife?
Because we’re not just talking about self-care. We’re talking about the incredible benefits it can bring to our lives.
When you care for yourself holistically—mind, body, and spirit—you create the foundation for healing. And when healing begins, you also begin the journey back to yourself.
Here, we’re not just surviving motherhood. We’re rebuilding confidence, rediscovering dreams, creating emotional safety, supporting our mental health, and learning how to become more than just mom.
I hold a degree in psychology and have completed self-care training, but I’m not a therapist.
I’m simply a mom sharing my journey, the lessons I learned along the way, and the tools that have helped me navigate motherhood with more awareness, intention, and self-compassion.
So stay awhile for the honest conversations, the gentle encouragement, and the practical self-care tools.
And for the reminder that motherhood is just a chapter in your remarkable story—it’s not the whole story.
You are more than just mom. And your dreams still matter.
Mama, welcome to IslanderMomLife. 🩵
